Weekly Recap 8/17/20-8/23/20 Riding Ponies and Training the Pup

Since when is it already the end of August?! This summer has just flown by. Is it because of the social distancing and the limits placed on our everyday lives? Or the stress of the pandemic? What ever it is, it feels like the days go by slow, while the year just flies past us.

While I haven’t exactly been living up to my name recently, I have been getting back to my roots as an Equestrian! Riding horses has been a lifelong passion of mine and something I had done for years! Now after a hiatus from the horse world I am diving back in!

I’m starting off with just one lesson a week and a local eventing barn. So far I’ve taken 4 lessons. The first lesson I took I was embarrassingly rusty. I could hardly get the horse to collect properly or use their body in any kind of effective way. But now by the 4th lesson I feel like I could hold my own in a dressage show! It’s amazing how quickly things will come back to you.

My goal is to eventually be able to ride more during the week, but until then a lesson a week will do just be just fine.

In addition to riding I’ve been spending days off both working with my dogs Finley and Jubilee. Raising a proper Malinois puppy is a full time job in itself, but I love working with her. She is so smart it’s almost terrifying.

Over the weekend we attended a good friends wedding. The wedding had been pushed back from the original date due to COVID and it was a smaller group of people. It was so nice to feel some sense of normalcy and I am so happy that we were able to spend the night celebrating some great individuals getting married!

The rest of the weekend was spent just relaxing and recovering from a late night. It takes so much longer to recover from late nights the older you get! Getting older is so overrated. While I am not looking forward to working on Monday, I am looking forward to the rest of the week and I can’t wait to get another ride in!

Have a good week everyone!
